About Us

Our Story.

How a dream of community magic became something real.

It started with a simple belief.

That every person — regardless of background, ability, or circumstance — deserves access to the transformative power of art, creativity, and genuine community.

That a neighborhood block, a park bench, or a shared meal can be the site of something extraordinary. That kindness, when practiced together, compounds.

How it began

Unitopia was founded by a small group of artists, educators, and neighbors who kept noticing the same thing: people wanted to connect, create, and belong — they just needed a place and a reason.

So we built one. Not a building, but a community. Not a program, but a practice.

Where we are now

What began as a handful of pop-up events and public art installations has grown into a nonprofit bringing together hundreds of community members each year through festivals, workshops, murals, performances, and educational programs.

“We don’t just make art. We make room — for people to be seen, heard, and celebrated exactly as they are.”

— Unitopia

What We Do

Every program is designed to lower the barrier to participation and raise the ceiling on what’s possible.

Public Art

Murals, installations, and placemaking projects that turn public spaces into sites of wonder and pride.

Cultural Programming

Festivals, ceremonies, and seasonal gatherings that braid art, music, and ritual into the rhythm of community life.

Education

Workshops, mentorships, and skill-shares that lower barriers to learning and invite everyone to teach what they know.

Community Events

Pop-ups, dinners, and shared spaces designed to make connection easy and belonging the default.

The story is still being written.

Every person who shows up adds a chapter. We’d love for yours to be next.
